Timeline:
October-December: Provincial approval, acceptance into agency, gather all documents (record checks, medicals, fingerprints, references, contracts, ID to be notarized etc.) and complete our home study.
December 12: Signed off on our home study and it was sent in the mail!
January 7: Documents were received by our agency. We have a few documents to resend but all should be with them in the next few weeks!
Whats next? Our file will be ready to send overseas!! Now for the fundraising to begin!
I wanted to share tidbits of our journey as we walk through it this time.
so... to start off this is what our little boy, Solomon, thinks about this adoption.
"I going to have a baby sister, right momma?" I don't know my handsome as we have kept our file open to either gender!
A song that has been a big part of my journey and really makes me think is "Kings and Queens" by Audio Adrenaline. Listen here.
January 24- We got word that our dossier has arrived in South Africa!!
February 27- Posting about our fundraising to help bring our babe home.
"That not the office momma, that my baby brother or baby sisters room."- Solomon
This little one is so loved already and we can't wait to meet him/her!
March 23- Received our Citizenship file # for our babe! This means that a file is open and waiting to be filled by our little one to become a Canadian Citizen whenever meeting our little one happens!
Another song that has truly made an impact in our life. "Just Be Held" by Casting Crowns. Listen here.
A few more songs that have been apart of our journey: "Oceans" by Hillsong United, "It is well" by Bethel Music, "Trust in You" by Lauren Daigle, "Lord, I need you" by Matt Maher and "I am not alone" by Kari Jobe And I am sure there are a few that I am missing.
Click on each of the titles and you should be able to listen to the music!
March 23, 2016- WE RECEIVED THE CALL!!!! We became a family of 4 in the matter of minutes! What an incredible blessing!
Here is the story:
After waiting for 15 months we finally received THE call! I had been at our school ski trip and I was on the chair lift when all of a sudden my phone was buzzing. It wasn't the same buzz as text messages so I pulled it out to check. It was our social worker. I went to answer it and held it up to my ear only to realize that I couldn't hear anything because I had my helmet on (with the ear flaps). I hung up telling myself, I will call him back when I get to the top. Well, once I got off the chair lift I pulled out my phone to see that Josh was calling me! I answered it and instantly it was "It CAME!" At that moment my world stopped. We received the call for our second beautiful son/daughter. We became a family of 4 in that moment!
I still had to wait 4 hours before I could even get home to celebrate with my family. Josh and I decided that we would look at pictures and then tell Solomon together when I got home. To say the least it was the worse run of the day (for snowboarding) as I was NOT focused at all. I got to the bottom and with spotty wifi shared the good news with family and some close friends through text. My phone died about 10 minutes into our trip home so it was basically the longest 2 hour drive home EVER!
We shared with Solomon about his little sibling. He was a bit reserved and I think overwhelmed but 24 hours later and he was so excited. Singing her name, looking at her picture, calling her "my girl"... I think he's excited!
